We Put People Before Profits

About us

Meet the new local

We’re not just your grandfather’s credit union…we’re probably your neighbor’s, your Uber driver’s, your favorite winery’s, and (just maybe) your soulmate’s.

We're tech-tastic

We have most of the same bells and whistles as the big banks (but none of the drama):

Digital banking hub
Sweet mobile app
Mobile deposits
Friendly chatbot for those lonely nights

We see you for you

You’re a neighbor, not a number. We take the time to get to know you and your goals.

Think of us as your wingman, always there to help you make the right moves and score big with your finances.

Our rates love to compete

Great rates, unlike fanny packs, never go out of style. At Community First, we make your money work harder…so you can live easier.

Cash on tap...everywhere you go

We’ve got more free ATMs than Sonoma’s got vineyards, cows, and fancy cheeses...so you’re never too far from your $$$

Our Story

How it started

In a garage. Seriously! We were founded by a group of Sonoma County teachers who were denied home loans by the big banks. It was the ’50s. Teachers weren't paid during summer breaks, and bankers decided they weren’t savvy enough to save up for those months. (Pshaw!)

How it’s going

We’ve grown quite a bit! Today we have over 60,000 members, which includes some of the finest people in Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. But one thing’s always remained the same: Your hard-earned cash stays local, helping your friends and neighbors live their best lives.

Community First is the only financial institution in our five-county footprint that’s a certified Community Development Financial Institution. That means we go above and beyond to support underserved members in our local community.
