Fund-Raiser to Help it Go Digital
Santa Rosa, Calif. –– April 2, 2013 – Community First Credit Union, a 52-year-old financial cooperative in Sonoma County, has purchased all 240 tickets at the Rio Theater in Monte Rio to a special April 21 matinee showing of “Peggy Sue Got Married.” All proceeds will go to the Rio Theater to help it convert to digital operations. Community First will distribute its tickets to Members of the cooperative who are Russian River area residents, and to select non-profit service groups.
Hollywood studios will no longer distribute film reels. Instead, movie houses will have to install high-end servers and digital projectors. The Rio needs to attract approximately $60,000 for the conversion. If it doesn’t, the iconic Russian River theater will go dark, leaving many West County residents with a very long drive to see first-run films.
Why “Peggy Sue Got Married”? “Community First is the Sonoma County financial cooperative,” explained VP of Marketing, David Williams. “Peggy Sue was filmed entirely in Sonoma County. Indeed, the famed high school reunion scene where Peggy Sue bumps her heads and goes back in time, was filmed at Santa Rosa High School.”
Additional to the tickets purchased by Community First, Don’s Dogs will be selling food, there will be raffles and Community First’s Russ Anger, VP of Lending, will be pouring beer.
